Flash Rec League: FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Flash League and Flash Competitive Basketball teams?

The Flash League is recreational or non-competitive by design and is offered for boys and girls K through 4th Grade.
Flash Competitive teams are formed year round, have try-outs, and play against other club teams in competitive leagues and tournaments.

What makes Flash League Basketball different than other Recreational programs?

Flash League is the most fun your player will have all week!  Your kids will enjoy the pregame intros,  music, longer games, and a great competitive/fun environment.  Adults will appreciate our predictable practice and game schedules, and the great instructions from both professional coaches as well as your volunteer team coaches.  Above all, we provide and require the most comprehensive teaching of the game so that key development objectives are met for each player.

How much does Flash League cost and when is the registration deadline?

Kinder/1st Grade Co-Ed Divisions are $215. All the other Divisions are $265.  $20 Early registration discount offer may be offered. Spots typically fill up quickly upon registration being opened so spots are offered on a first come first serve basis. Cost includes 8 Sundays of games (longer Season than most other programs), Saturday practices for 1st-4th Grade, and a team jersey.

Are there team practices for Flash League's Winter Basketball?

Kinder/1st Co-ed teams do not have team practices.  They will practice for 20 minutes before their games.  All other Divisions will have one Saturday 60 minute practice.  All practices and games will be held at West Hills Christian School in 2025.

Why the switch to Saturday team practices?

Parents of young players have shared that mid-week practices can be logistically challenging to balance between school and activities, sometimes for multiple kids.  By practicing at the same time on Saturdays, it allows for families to plan their weekends while also allowing players to immediately be given an opportunity to apply what they learned the very next day.  By consolidating all practices on one day, Flash is also able to provide professional coaches to lead a few clinic style practices that will not only benefit our players, but provide our volunteer coaches an opportunity to learn how to be a better teacher/trainer.

How will Divisions/Teams be determined?

We are having everyone register for a specific Division during registration.  We may choose to combine Divisions based on final enrollment.

Do you honor player and coach requests?

Yes, we will honor coach and player requests up to roster capacity and it is first come first serve.  All parties must have an active registration for requests to be valid before roster is full.  Having said that, for the benefit and enjoyment of everyone, please register to ‘play up’ if your assembled team is more skilled than average. Advanced 3rd and 4th Graders are encouraged to try out for Flash Competitive teams.
